Getting to the Subject

TODAY’S BUZZ TIP | July 6, 2009
The Subject Line in an email message is probably the most important part of your email pitch. It’s the first thing that an editor sees and it may be the deciding factor on whether they open the email or not. So, make sure your subject line is compelling and informative. Here are some quick tips:
First put your product’s name in the subject head and tie it into a current trend.
Put your company in the subject as well as many editors file their emails and it’s an easy way for them to find it.
Don’t use caps, it’s viewed as shouting and definitely bad email etiquette.
Always use the word NEW in the subject head if it’s true. Editors love anything that is fresh to the market.
Okay, I think that’s enough on the subject. After all, you also have to keep it short.
