TODAY’S BUZZ TIP | February 6, 2009

It’s Friday so anything goes!  And the same should be true of your PR campaigns.  Let’s face it, PR is all about getting attention and what better way to veer the spotlight on your product or service then by creating an unexpected event.  Case in point: This week Dennys brilliantly gave away free food, namely their Grand Slam Breakfast, to millions of hungry Americans.  it was bold, timely, sympathetic and well executed.  But what matters most is that it got tons of attention including the cover of USA Today, the nation’s largest newspaper.  So do something out of the ordinary.  Be it beautiful women running down the street in their skivvies to promote a lingerie brand to vintage hearses painted with “flower power” graphics to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease among baby boomers — both real campaigns and I should know, cause I led them.  The crazier the event, the more memorable it will be.  So Get Crazy!!!
