Don’t let all this technology and social media hype fool you. There is still some merit to traditional methods of communication. The truth is when it comes to editors, especially those dealing with products, they love to get the actual physical version of your catalog or brochure. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve been asked by editors, after emailing a lookbook, to send it to them by mail. They love having a copy to file away and take out as they begin putting together their product features. Plus, they hate to have their email tied up with large files. Every season I do a mailing for my clients with their current lookbook. Right now I’m getting ready to ship out these books to editors so they have them in time for their Fall planning meetings. Yes, magazines are already thinking Fall.
So, get out your stamps, envelopes and ship out those catalogs, linesheets, whatever. Once they have your books in hand, you will be amazed at how many opportunities for press come your way. And make sure you have a great. More about that next week!
