What a difference a year makes. Just last September, the U.S. was on the brink of economic collapse. The measures taken to save the financial markets were drastic and controversial but in retrospect necessary to avoid total catastrophe. And the person credited for steering us away from financial ruin is U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke, and that is why he was named by Time as their “Person of the Year.” The Today Show featured the editor in chief of Time this morning who broke the news on the air.
Time is still one of the great newsweeklies. In a world of “gotta have it now” news it’s nice to see that these magazines are still out there for those of us who don’t like to have the world’s problems shoved in their face every day. To sit back and catch up at one’s own pace is quite preferable, at least to me. Anyway, it’s still a viable magazine and one that you should definitely include in your media list.
